Welcome to the Bahamas: A Sunshine Paradise

Swaying palms, stunning beaches, plenty to explore – what more could you ask of a holiday? Of course, it doesn’t hurt that we’re talking about one of the best sunshine destinations in the world. Welcome to the Bahamas!

Preparing for Your Long-Haul Flight

This is one island that is more than worth the 9 hours you need to spend on a plane to get to it, and no matter what your taste in entertainment, you’ll find something for you. Of course, long-haul flying is exhausting, but there are ways to make it less of a stress on the body. I recently stayed at an airport hotel prior to flying, and found the extra few hours’ shut-eye really did wonders for the stress and exhaustion levels on the flight. You won’t struggle to find airport hotels whatever airport you’re flying from, but I stayed at one of the Heathrow Airport hotels and found a great range to choose from, such as the Sofitel Heathrow with fantastic rates available. Whatever your budget, there’s something to suit, including the Premier Inn at Heathrow Airport, check them out for yourself and see what you can find.

Exploring the Bahamas

Beaches and Boat Trips

Once you arrive in the Bahamas, you’ll find it’s about more than laying on the beach. Of course, if you’re like me, you’ll certainly be spending a fair bit of your time basking in the sun, and there are plenty to choose from. Gold Rock Beach is a particularly good choice, with plenty of facilities. Wherever I go, I always book myself onto a boat trip and spend the day floating on the seas, accelerating that tan and taking in the scenery. You can jump on a choice of trips from Nassau harbor, and many of the resorts around the island, and it’s definitely a day out I wouldn’t miss.

Shopping in Nassau

Whilst you’re in Nassau, the island’s capital, you can also indulge in another of my favorite activities – shopping! One of the great things about the island is that it’s got that wonderful duty free status, so you’re bound to get more for your money. Rum is of course famous in the area, so be sure to take some home as a souvenir! Bahamian evenings are about food good, good music and having a good time.

Bahamian Food and Nightlife

A Taste of the Bahamas

Food-wise, Bahamian food is typically spicy, yet you’ll find something for any taste. Seafood is particularly delicious and freshly caught, so be sure to try some. Stomach lined, you’re ready to dance the night away! For the best of the action, Nassau is again where it’s at, with lots of restaurants and bars, or alternatively Paradise Island is lively, with plenty of entertainment to choose from.

Long-Haul Flights: A Gateway to Paradise

The Bahamas are a once in a lifetime destination for many, yet thanks to the lowering cost of holidays, it’s now accessible to all, and why would you pass up a chance to visit this paradise island? The long-haul flight may put some off, but if you remember my suggestion of airport hotels prior to traveling, you can make headway in preparing your body for the tiredness, and make traveling an enjoyable part of your holiday. Check out the Hilton at Gatwick for flights out of the capital, and see the benefits for yourself. Long-haul is exactly that for a reason – to visit places that are something special, and the Bahamas are certainly that.
